Orchestra Explanation Writing

This term our topic is about Arts. We have enjoyed learning about orchestra especially learning about the different families of instruments used by professional players.

WHY IS AN ORCHESTRA SEMBLANCE THAT WAY ?

An orchestra is a large group of musicians who gather together to play a variety of instruments. They also play instruments to entertain people. Claudio Montenerdi, an Italian opera composer, created the first appearance of a professional orchestra in the 17th century. Claudio came up with the idea when he started using certain instruments to perform his songs.

In this writing I will explain the four families of instruments and how each one creates sound, as well as why they're located in that order, in this explanation.

First, the family of instruments and musicians are the string family which includes the Violin, Viola, Cello, String bass, Double bass, and the harp. Noise and vibration produces sound and notes in all stringed instruments. Musicians vibrate strings by touching them with a bow, striking them, or plucking them. However, if you stretch a string tight and pluck it, it is unlikely to produce a loud sound. The string family are at the front row because, The strings normally have the most notes and most elevated level of tune, so it would be good to place them in front, where they are noticeable both to the crowd and to one another and have the most obvious opportunity with regards to being heard.

Second, the next family that sits behind the string family are the woodwinds which includes the flute, bassoon & contrabassoon, piccolo, clarinets and oboe. Woodwind instruments are made of a long empty container of wood or metal. The sound is made by blowing air through a very little part of shaved wood called a reed, or across a little mouthpiece. Air is blown across the reed joined to the mouthpiece of the instrument, vibrating the air down the container of the instrument to create sounds. Different notes are delivered by covering or opening openings in the instrument tube, changing the reed, and size of the instrument tube. The name "woodwind" started on the grounds that the instruments were once made of wood and are played by using wind.

Third, the family that sits behind the woodwinds are the brass instruments which includes the French horn, trumpet, trombone and the tuba. Brass instruments are wind instruments made of metal with a cup shaped mouthpiece. The brass family produces sound just like the woodwind family, brass  players use their breath to produce sound, however rather than blowing into a reed, you vibrate your own lips by humming them against a metal cup-molded mouthpiece. The mouthpiece helps with amplifying the humming of the lips, which creates The sound. Wind and metal instruments have a directional sound that normally projects, so they are as yet discernible from the rear of the stage (typically on risers so their sound goes over the tops of different performers without them stressing to be heard).

Last, the last family of instruments and musicians are the percussion that includes the piano, timpani, snare drum and the bass drum. Percussion instruments are played by being struck or shaken. Percussion instruments create sounds by being hit. Drums have an empty body that amplifies the commotion of an extended film being hit. A few instruments are shaken, similar to the maracas. The Percussion is seated at the back because The percussion is normally L O U D in case you are near it. Putting it at the rear of a symphony completes two things. It permits a touch of a room that progresses the sound, and second put a ton of delicate sound safeguards (different individuals from the ensemble) between the player and the crowd.

In conclusion, an orchestra is an important event but at the same time it looks kind of uneventful for those who are not interested in classical music. The family of instruments I was interested in listening to their sound was the string family.

Reflection - Learning This Year 2020

 Challenges:

This year, My teacher Mrs Tafea has been teaching

Room 7 how to do different kinds of work that we have

not learnt before.

Favourite things:

My favourite thing about this year is doing different

kinds of maths with Mr Tafea, but sometimes

he teaches us the same maths that we keep forgetting about.

I like maths because maths are easier than some

of the other subjects.

New things we have learnt:

The new things we have learnt with Mrs Tafea were

: Reading: 3 level questionings, especially

critical questions, Body parts and their

functions also the organ system plus major

systems & Maths: Ratio & Bodmas Or Bedmas.

Highlight:

My highlight for this year is to help other students

with their work, also I am trying to get a certificate

for this year on prize giving and if i get a certificate

my parents would be proud of me because my parents

kept pushing me to do a lot of work to get a certificate.

So that's why I kept doing all the work at home instead

of watching youtube or stuff like that, so I am trying

to get a certificate to make my parents proud of me again

like last year.

Writing - Rewriting Moana's Story

On Saturday morning we got up really early and watched cartoons on T.V. There was this really funny bit on “What Now” when Mike tipped a bottle of milk over Tina’s head. I pretended to tip a bottle of milk over Sam’s head, but he didn’t laugh. At nine o'clock Mum got up, we got told off for making a mess in the lounge. It wasn’t even that messy, there were just a few cushions and some Lego on the floor. There was some milk on the floor too, but hardly any. Mum said we had to clean everything up. I ended up cleaning most of it up by myself, Sam just pretended to help.

Then we went to swimming lessons. I am in the Sharks’ group and Sam is in the Tadpoles. I am the best at backstroke in our group. My swimming teacher said I might be able to go in the inter-club swimming competition.

After swimming we went to Mcdonalds for lunch. Yum!, I had a Big Mac combo and Sam had a cheeseburger combo. We got some stickers with our meals, Mum had a coffee. She doesn’t like Mcdonalds food that much.

When we got home, Sam and I made a hut in the basement under our house. We got some old furniture and set it up, it looked really good but it was quite dark.

We had macaroni and cheese for tea. I hate macaroni and cheese. I call it macaroni slime. Mum said I didn’t have to eat it all, but I had to eat some. I ate a tiny bit, but then I ate lots of ice-cream for pudding, so I wasn’t hungry at all.

Recount About My Fun Holiday

   Recount About My Fun Holiday!

On Tuesday 6th of October, my family and I went to Sylvia park because we were wanting to go there to eat and walk around the mall and buy clothes, shoes or anything not just stay at home being so bored doing nothing.

First, we drove to Sylvia park and started walking around the mall and see what they had there. My brother and I were so angry

that we didn’t get any clothes or stuff like that because we didn’t ask for it.

After that we were so hungry that we wanted Mcdonalds, when we walked

all the way to the eating area we ate and then we left to go and walk to the

end so that we can be finish walking for now, but my older brother

wanted to walk forever because he wanted to

lose some weight so that he cannot

eat any junk food anymore.

Second, My mum wanted to go shopping at Pak N Save because there was no food at home to eat. So when we went inside Pak N Save we all wanted some ice-cream for our desert for that day. When we came out of Pak N Save we had to eat outside Sylvia park because my mum did not want to have a mees in the car so we ate and ate until we finished eating so that we

can go inside the car and go home and have some time to do

our own stuff.

Third, After that we drove back home because my mum didn’t

feel well enough to walk forever. So we kept driving and driving until we got

home so that my mum could have some rest and see what was wrong with her.

When we got home we all started to go on Social Media and start

watching peoples videos & pics. After doing that we all had to

go shower because the

other day we were still going to the mall but to the Manukau mall

because that's where everyone goes.

I had so much fun walking around but i was a bit tired after that

so i took a 2hr sleep because of how we were walking around forever.

The Best Fale-Kai...Ever

The Best Fale-Kai...Ever

During Term 3 Room 5, 6 and 7 have been learning how to investigate the students in the school ( Tamaki Primary ). The people who were invited were the School ( Tamaki Primary ), teachers, parents,

and whanau. And also the Fale-Kai Pasifika started on T

hursday 10th September 2020.

Before we did the Restaurant ( Fale-Kai Pasifika ) we were

planning what we were going to do for the Falekai. After that

we started to decorate the hall to make it like it is a restaurant and make it professional and make it the best pasifika food. When

we finished decorating the hall we chose Pauliasi and Dyzon to

entertain the people who were there on the day when it started.

When it was all finished except the food we felt helpful to help Mrs tafea do the food because she was the only one there doing the food. And also we had helpers to do the Fale-kai. It was Ana,

Christine, and Mrs Tafea. The next day, customers started to come in

and sit down and wait for the food to be finished because they felt hungry. While they were waiting they were just looking at Pauliasi and Dyzon practising the Tongan song they were supposed to sing to entertain them.

Later that day, the food was finished and also the drinks

but the whole school wasn’t at the hall because there was no space for them to fit inside so we had mini ubereats to go deliver

to the class so that they can eat in their class.

During that day it was fun, and also we were happy that

we did this kind of restaurant.

The Day When My Grandpa Died

The Day When My Grandpa Died

On Friday 19th September 2019 my brother and I were just at school. During that day on lunchtime we were called to go with my

mum to the Hospital ( Middle More ), but we didn’t know why

we're going home that early. While we were driving to the

Middle More hospital my

mum ( Mata ) told us that our Grandpa ( Siale ) died, so my brother

and I felt so bad that he died and we almost cried

because we didn’t want him to die because he was

the best Grandpa we ever had.

Meanwhile, the doctor told my mum and aunty ( Helena ) that

we have to move him to this room in the Hospital and wait for his

family

to come and kiss him before he gets buried, so we waited for

a long time for his family to come. As soon as possible my

Grandpa’s family came,

when they came in we had to pray before we kiss him.

After the prayer we started to come close to him and kiss him.

Suddenly, it was night time, and we had to go to my uncle's house because there was more space for us to start our prayer because everyday we have to pray for my Grandpa so that he can have a nice Rest In Peace in heaven. At that point, everyone started

because we didn’t want him to die and everyone wanted him back.

The next morning, we had to make food for my Grandpa’s

funeral so that when the funerals finished the people who

were there would

just go to the kitchen and wait for the food we made.

Later that day,

We went to visit where my Grandpa was, but I

didn't go to

see my

Grandpa because I had to look after my cousins because

their parents were going to visit my Grandpa as well.

I wish my Grandpa was still alive because I want him

to come back, but we will still pray for you when you

are in heaven.
